TO: Honorable Eddie Lucio, Jr., Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1735, Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
Committee on Intergovernmental Relations By: Barrientos
          Senate
          Austin, Texas

         FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1735 ( Relating
to the authority of certain general-law municipalities to annex
additional areas.) this office has detemined the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1735-Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This bill would allow certain general-law municipalities with
populations under 3,000 to annex areas completely contained
within the boundaries of the municipality without the consent
of any of the residents or voters of the area, thereby facilitating
annexations by such municipalities and enabling such municipalities
to expand their tax bases and increase revenues accordingly.

No
significant fiscal implication to units of local government
is anticipated.
