LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session May 12, 1997 TO: Honorable Eddie Lucio, Jr., Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1735, Committee Report 1st House, Substituted Committee on Intergovernmental Relations By: Barrientos Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1735 ( Relating to the authority of certain general-law municipalities to annex additional areas.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1735-Committee Report 1st House, Substituted No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. This bill would allow certain general-law municipalities with populations under 3,000 to annex areas completely contained within the boundaries of the municipality without the consent of any of the residents or voters of the area, thereby facilitating annexations by such municipalities and enabling such municipalities to expand their tax bases and increase revenues accordingly.
