LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session April 17, 1997 TO: Honorable Kenneth Armbrister, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1852, Committee Report 1st House, Substituted Committee on State Affairs By: Armbrister Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1852 ( relating to the creation and operation of the Texas Affordable Housing Task Force.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1852-Committee Report 1st House, Substituted No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. This bill would establish the Texas Affordable Housing Task Force. The responsibility of the task force is to evaluate regulations and policies relating to housing and to identify those regulations and policies that unnecessarily increase the cost of constructing or rehabilitating affordable housing, create barriers to affordable housing opportunities, or limit the availability of affordable housing. The task force would be required to submit a report summarizing its findings and recommendations for revising the regulations and policies to promote the availability of affordable housing. The task force would be abolished upon the report's submittal in December 1998. It is assumed that the Department of Housing and Community Affairs would absorb staff support requirements to the task force. No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
