House Committee on Agriculture & Livestock 
            75th Legislature

            Pursuant to a notice posted on December 5, 1997, the House  
            Committee on Agriculture & Livestock met in a work session  
            and was called to order by the Chair, Representative Pete  
            Patterson at 10:05 am. 
             
            The roll was answered as follows:   
             
            Present:  Representatives Patterson, L.P. "Pete"; Cook;  
                      Rabuck; Roman (4). 
             
            Absent:   Representatives Swinford; Flores; Hupp; Oakley;  
                      Turner, Bob (5). 
             
            A quorum was present. 
             
            The committee toured rice industry facilities pursuant to  
            its interim charge to study vertical integration and  
            value-added processing.  The tour included Cook Farms,  
            Colorado County Rice Mill, Eagle Lake Rice Dryer, Texas  
            Seed Rice and Farmers Co-op Gin in El Campo. 
             
            At 3:30 pm, on the motion of the chair and without  
            objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of  
            the chair.
