         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 24, 1998, the House  
         Committee on Agriculture & Livestock met in a public hearing  
         and was called to order by the Chair, Representative Pete  
         Patterson at 10:10 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Patterson, L.P. "Pete"; Swinford;  
                   Cook; Hupp; Rabuck; Roman; Turner, Bob (7). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Flores; Oakley (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The Chair explained the purpose of the hearing was to address  
         the committee's interim charge to study vertical integration  
         and value-added processing opportunities for Texas products. 
          
         Testimony was taken.

         At 2:10 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
