         Pursuant to a notice posted on  April 27, 1998, the House  
         Committee on Agriculture & Livestock met in a public hearing  
         and was called to order by the Chair, Representative Pete  
         Patterson at 9:05 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Patterson, L.P. "Pete"; Swinford;  
                   Cook; Roman; Turner, Bob (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Flores; Hupp; Oakley; Rabuck (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The Chair explained the purpose of the hearing was to discuss  
         the Soil & Water Conservation agency funding cuts  by the  
         federal government and exploration of alternative funding  
         sources.

         objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of
