         Pursuant to a notice posted on January 29, 1997, the House 
         Committee on Appropriations-S/C on General Government met in a 
         work session and was called to order by the Chair, 
         Representative Talmadge Heflin at 8:10 am.
         
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Heflin; Davis; Finnell; Raymond; 
                   Swinford (5).
         
         Absent:   None (0).
         
         A quorum was present.
         
         
         The subcommittee discussed pending issues.
         
         At 10:00 am, on the motion of the chair and without objection, 
         the meeting was recessed until 10:30 am or upon adjournment of 
         the House.
         
         
         The committee reconvened at 11:15 am and was called to order by 
         the chair, Representative Heflin.  The roll was answered as 
         follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Heflin; Davis; Finnell; Raymond; 
                   Swinford (5).
         
         Absent:   None (0).
         
         A quorum was present.
         
         
         The subcommittee discusses pending issues.
         
         At 12:10 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,

         the chair, Representative Heflin.  The roll was answered as 
         follows:
