         Pursuant to a notice posted on January 15, 1998, the House  
         Committee on Appropriations, Subcommittee on Major Information  
         Systems met in a public hearing and was called to order by the  
         Chair, Representative Kubiak  at 10:05 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Kubiak; Averitt; Glaze; Greenberg;  
                   Hochberg; Mowery; Pitts; Raymond (8). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Finnell (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Chairman Kubiak made opening remarks about the goals of the  
         subcommittee and agency compliance with Year 2000 conversion  
         and reporting. 
          
         Testimony was taken (see witness list). 
          
         Agenda item II, Long-Range Planning for Major Systems, was  
         postponed to a future hearing. 
          
         At 2:00 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
