         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 23, 1997, the House 
         Committee on Appropriations-S/C on Education met in a work 
         session and was called to order by the Acting Chair, 
         Representative Hernandez at 5:25 pm.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Greenberg; Hernandez; West, George 
                   "Buddy" (3).
         
         Absent:   Representatives Cuellar; Hochberg (2).
         
         A quorum was present.
         
         The Subcommittee discussed the institutions budget requests that 
         had been presented to the Subcommittee in prior public hearings.
         
         (Representatives Cuellar and Hochberg now present.)  
         
         At 6:00 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection, 
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
