Pursuant to a notice posted on March 27, 1997, the House
Committee on Appropriations-S/C on Emoluments, Subcommittee on
Emoluments met in a public hearing and was called to order by
the Chair, Representative Pete Gallego at 8:26 am.
The roll was answered as follows:

Representative Pitts made a motion to recommend maintaining
current policy for issuance of cleaning allowances to
non-commissioned personnel and for clothing purchase policy
for non-commissioned personnel at affected state agencies.
The motion passed with no objection.
Representative Pitts made a motion to recommend maintaining
current cleaning allowance policy for commissioned personnel
at affected state agencies. The motion passed with no
objection.
Representative Pitts made a motion to recommend eliminating a
clothing allowance ($1,200) for the ranks of captain and above
at the Department of Public Safety and the Texas Alcoholic
Beverage Commission. The roll was answered as follows.
Ayes: Representatives Gallego; Pitts; Walker (3).
Nays: Representatives Hinojosa; Moreno; Tillery;
West, George "Buddy" (4).
Present not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representatives Averitt; Kubiak (2).
The motion failed.
At 10:05 am, on the motion of the chair and without objection,
the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
