         Services

         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 14, 1997, the House 
         Committee on Appropriations-S/C on Duplication of Services met 
         in a work session and was called to order by the Chair, 
         Representative David Swinford at 2:10 pm.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
        Present:   Representatives Swinford; Davis; Finnell; Heflin; 
                   Price (5).
         
    Absent:        Representatives Coleman; Cuellar; Delisi; Mowery (4).
         
         A quorum was present.
         
         (Representatives Cuellar and Mowery now present.)  
         
         (Representative Delisi now present.)
         
         John Barton and Robert Norris, LBB staff, briefed the members 
         on service categories, how they relate to the General 
         Appropriations Act, and how they can be used by the 
         subcommittee to identify where government agencies may overlap 
         in the services they provide.
         
         Representative Carl Isett joined the subcommittee in 
         discussing activity based costing.
         
         At 3:50 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection, 
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
