         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 26, 1998, the House  
         Committee on Business & Industry, Subcommittee on Mergers and  
         Acquisitions met in a public hearing and was called to order by the  
         Chair, Representative Solomons at 10:12 am.                          
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Giddings; Solomons (2). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Corte, Dukes, Woolley (3). 
          
         A quorum was not present. 
          
         Testimony was taken.   
          
         (Representative Dukes now present.)   
          
         A quorum is now present. 
          
         Chairman Solomons recognized Representative Giddings for a motion. 
          
         Representative Giddings moved to adopt the Rules of the House as the  
         rules of the subcommittee.  Representative Dukes seconded the  
         motion.  With no objection, the motion passed unanimously. 
          
         Testimony was taken.   
          
         At 12:20 pm, on the motion of Representative Solomons and without  
         objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the  
         chair.
