House Committee on Calendars

         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 19,  
         1997, the House Committee on Calendars met in a formal meeting  
         and was called to order by the Chair, Representative Mark  
         Stiles at 5:05 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Stiles; Berlanga; Brimer; Danburg;  
                   Hernandez; McCall; Place; Sadler; Turner, Sylvester  
                   (9). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Hilbert; Dutton (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The Chair recognized Rep. Berlanga, who moved that the  
         committee adopt a proposed rule for floor consideration of SB  
         1.  The motion was seconded by Rep. Turner and passed by the  
         following record vote: 
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Berlanga; Brimer; Danburg;  
                        Hernandez; McCall; Place; Sadler; Turner,  
                        Sylvester (8). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      Representative Stiles (1). 
          
         Absent:        Representatives Hilbert; Dutton (2). 
          
         The Chair moved that the Committee place the following bills  
         and resolutions on a calendar for Wednesday, May 21, 1997:  SB  
         352, SB 359, SB 360, SB 371, SB 681, and SB 55 on the Major  
         State Calendar; SB 1, SB 20, SB 30, SB 205, SB 227, SB 274, SB  
         310, SB 329, SB 343, SB 472, SB 495, SB 674, SB 1106, SB 1529,  
         SB 1877 and SB 1591 on the General State Calendar; and SJR 39  
         on the Constitutional Amendments Calendar.  The motion was  
         seconded by Rep. Berlanga and passed by the following record  
         vote: 
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Berlanga; Brimer; Danburg;  
                        Hernandez; McCall; Place; Sadler; Turner,  
                        Sylvester (8). 
          
         Nays:          None (0).

         At 5:10 pm, on the motion of Representative Danburg and  
         without objection, the meeting was recessed subject to the  
         call of the chair.
