         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 14, 1997, the House 
         Committee on Corrections met in a public hearing and was called 
         to order by the Chair, Representative Allen Hightower at 11:42 
         am.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Hightower; Allen; Alexander; Farrar; 
                   Gray; Hupp; Marchant; Serna (8).
         
         Absent:   Representative Edwards (1).
         
         A quorum was present.
         
         HB 485
         
         The chair laid out HB 485.  
         
         The chair recognized Representative McClendon to explain the 
         measure.  
         
         Testimony was taken.  See attached witness list.
         
         The chair recognized Representative McClendon to close on the 
         measure.  
         
         Representative Alexander moved that HB 485 be reported favorably 
         to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be 
         printed.  The motion prevailed by the following vote:  
         
         Ayes:     Representatives Hightower; Alexander; Farrar; Gray; 
                   Hupp; Marchant; Serna (7).
         
         Nays:     None (0).
         
         Present not Voting: None (0).
         
         Absent:   Representatives Allen; Edwards (2).

         The chair laid out HB 1155.
         
         The chair recognized Representative Hightower to explain the 
         measure.

         favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do 
         pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following
