         Pursuant to a notice posted on January 22, 1998, the House  
         Committee on Economic Development met in a public hearing and  
         was called to order by the Chair, Representative Rene Oliveira  
         at 9:48 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Oliveira; Yarbrough; Greenberg;  
                   Keffer; Luna, Vilma; Seaman (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Raymond; Siebert; Van de Putte (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Smart Jobs 
          
         The chair laid out the topic of the Smart Jobs Fund Program.

         At 11:39 am, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 1:30 pm. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 1:40 pm and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Oliveira.  The roll was answered as  
         follows:

         Absent:   Representatives Raymond; Siebert (2).
