         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 30, 1998, the House  
         Committee on Economic Development met in a public hearing and  
         was called to order by the Chair, Representative Rene Oliveira  
         at 9:14 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Oliveira; Yarbrough; Greenberg;  
                   Seaman; Siebert; Van de Putte (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Keffer; Luna; Raymond (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The chair recognized the Honorable Howard Peak, Mayor of the  
         City of San Antonio.  Mayor Peak gave a welcoming statement. 
          
         North American Free Trade Agreement 
          
         The chair laid out the subject of the North American Free  
         Trade Agreement. 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 12:44 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 1:45 pm. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 1:49 pm and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Oliveira.  The roll was answered as  
         follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Oliveira; Yarbrough; Greenberg;  
                   Seaman; Siebert; Van de Putte  (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Keffer; Luna; Raymond (3). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         At 5:18 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
