         Pursuant to a notice posted on July 17, 1998, the House  
         Committee on Economic Development met in a public hearing and  
         was called to order by the Chair, Representative Rene Oliveira  
         at 9:43 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Oliveira; Keffer; Luna; Seaman;  
                   Siebert (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Yarbrough; Greenberg; Raymond; Van  
                   de Putte (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The chair laid out the subject of NAFTA.
