Pursuant to a notice posted on February 6, 1997, the House
Committee on Elections met in a public hearing and was called to
order by the Chair, Representative Debra Danburg, at 2:07 pm.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Danburg; Jones, Jesse; Denny;
Galloway, Carolyn; Hodge; Isett; Madden (7).
Absent: Representatives Gallego; Place (2).
A quorum was present.

The Chair introduced herself in opening remarks and called for
the staff to introduce themselves.
The Chair recognized Representative Jones to introduce himself.
The Chair recognized Representative Place to introduce himself.
The Chair recognized Representative Madden to introduce himself.
The Chair recognized Representative Denny to introduce herself.
The Chair recognized Representative Galloway to introduce
herself.
The Chair recognized Representative Hodge to introduce herself.
The Chair recognized Representative Isett to introduce himself.
The Chair recognized Ann McGeehan and Melinda Nickless, both
representing the Secretary of State (Tony Garza) to introduce
themselves.
The Chair recognized Beverly B. Kaufman, Harris County Clerk,
and Tony Sirvello III, Administrator of Elections - Harris
County Clerk's office, to introduce themselves.
The Chair recognized Mary Ann Collins, representing the
Republican Party of Texas, to introduce herself.
The Chair recognized Steve McDonald, Texas Democratic Party
Comptroller, to introduce himself.
The Chair recognized Tom Pauken, Chairman of the Republican
Party of Texas, to introduce himself.
The Chair recognized Suzy Woodford, representing Common Cause,
to introduce herself.
The Chair recognized John Willingham, Administrator of Elections
- Williamson County (representing himself), to introduce
himself.
The Chair recognized Larry McGinnis, lobbyist for Hart
Information Systems, to introduce himself.
The Chair recognized Homero Lucero, representing Adams &
Zottarelli, to introduce himself.
The Chair recognized Dave Cummings, representing the State
Comptroller (John Sharp), to introduce himself.
The Chair recognized Tom Harrison, representing the Texas Ethics
Commission, to introduce himself.
The Chair recognized Susan Durso, representing the Speaker's
Office, to introduce herself.
At 3:14 pm, on the motion of Representative Denny and without
objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the
chair.
