         Pursuant to a suspension of the 5-day posting rule on February 
         25, 1997, the House Committee on Elections met in a public 
         hearing and was called to order by the Chair, Representative 
         Debra Danburg at 11:40 am.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
        Present:   Representatives Danburg; Jones, Jesse; Gallego; 
                   Galloway, Carolyn; Hodge; Isett; Madden; Place (8).
         
    Absent:        Representative Denny (1).
         
         A quorum was present.

         The chair laid out HJR 56.  
         
         The chair referred the bill to the Subcommittee on HB 643.
         
         At 11:45 am, on the motion of Representative Madden and 
         without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the
