         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 27, 1997, the House 
         Committee on Elections met in a public hearing and was called 
         to order by the Chair, Representative Debra Danburg at 2:10 
         pm.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Danburg; Jones, Jesse; Denny; 
                   Gallego; Galloway, Carolyn; Hodge; Isett; Madden; 
                   Place (9).
         
         Absent:   None (0).
         
         A quorum was present.

         HB 35
         
         The chair laid out HB 35.  
         
         The chair recognized Representative Goolsby to explain the 
         measure.  
         
         Testimony was taken.  
         
         The chair recognized Representative Goolsby to close on the 
         measure.  
         
         The bill was left pending without objection. 
         
         HB 464
         
         The chair laid out HB 464.  
         
         The chair recognized Representative Zbranek to explain the 
         measure.  
         
         Testimony was taken.  
         
         The chair recognized Representative Zbranek to close on the 
         measure.  
         
         The chair referred the bill to the Subcommittee on HB 464.
         
         The chair named the following members to the Subcommittee on 
         HB 464:  Representative Jones, Jesse, Chair, Representatives 
         Galloway, Carolyn and Hodge.

         The chair laid out HB 841.  
         
         The bill was left pending without objection. 
         
         At 2:45pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection, 
         the meeting was recessed until 2:50 pm.
         
         The committee reconvened at 2:50 pm and was called to order by 
         the acting chair, Representative Jesse Jones.  The roll was 
         answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives  Danburg, Jones, Jesse; Denny; 
                   Gallego; Galloway, Carolyn; Hodge; Isett; Madden; 
                   Place (9).
         
         Absent:   (0).
         
         A quorum was present.
         
         HB 35
         
         The chair laid out HB 35.  
         
         Representative Jones, Jesse moved that HB 35 be reported 
         favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do 
         pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed without objection.
         
         At 2:55 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection, 
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
