         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 28, 1997, the House 
         Committee on Elections, Subcommittee on HB 331 and HB 916 met 
         in a public hearing and was called to order by the Chair, 
         Representative Jones, Jesse at 2:15 pm.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Jones, Jesse; Galloway, Carolyn; 
                   Hodge (3).
         
         Absent:   (0).
         
         The chair moved to reconsider the motion by which HB 331 and 
         HB 916 were reported back to full committee.
         
         The motion prevailed without objection.

         The chair laid out HB 331 and HB 916 concurrently.  
         
         Representative Jones, Jesse offered an amendment to HB 331.
         
         The amendment was adopted without objection.

         the full committee favorably.
