         Pursuant to a notice posted on April 2, 1997, the House  
         Committee on Elections, Subcommittee on HB 643,  HB 1001,  and  
         HJR 56 met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the  
         Chair, Representative Place at 1:00 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
         Present:  Representatives Jones, Jesse; Hodge; Place (3). 
         Absent:   (0). 
         HB 1001 
         The chair laid out HB 1001 as pending business.   
          
         The chair explained the measure. 
          
         Representative Jones, Jesse offered a complete committee  
         substitute.   
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
          
         Representative Jones, Jesse moved that HB 1001, as  
         substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the  
         recommendation that it do pass and be printed.   
          
         The motion passed unanimously. 
         HB 643 
         The chair laid out HB 643 as pending business.   
          
         The bill was left pending without objection.  
         HJR 56 
         The chair laid out HJR 56 as pending business.   
          
         The bill was left pending without objection.  
          
         At 1:25 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
