         Pursuant to a notice posted on April 2, 1997, the House  
         Committee on Elections, Subcommittee on Voter Registration met  
         in a formal meeting and was called to order by the Chair,  
         Representative Madden at 12:30 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Jones, Jesse; Hodge; Madden (3). 
          
         Absent:   (0). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         HB 1852 
          
         The chair laid out HB 1852.   
          
         Representative Hodge offered an amendment to the measure.   
          
         The amendment was adopted without objection.   
          
         Representative Madden offered an amendment to the measure.   
          
         The amendment was adopted without objection.   
          
         The chair directed the staff to incorporate the amendments  
         into a committee substitute.   
          
         Representative Hodge moved that HB 1852, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full committee with the  
         recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion  
         prevailed by the following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Jones, Jesse; Hodge; Madden  
                        (3). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        (0). 
          
         At 12:45 pm, on the motion of Representative Hodge and without  
         objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of  
         the chair.
