         Pursuant to a notice posted on October 13, 1998, the House  
         Committee on Financial Institutions met in a public hearing  
         and was called to order by the Chair, Representative Kenny  
         Marchant at 10:00 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Marchant; Gutierrez; Elkins;  
                   Giddings; Smith; Solomons (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Ehrhardt; Grusendorf; Patterson,  
                   L.P. "Pete" (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Representative Ehrhardt now present. 
          
         The Committee took testimony regarding interim charge number  
         one. 
          
         There being no further business, the Committee adjourned  
         subject to the call of the Chair without objection at 1:15 pm.
