Pursuant to a notice posted on May 1, 1997, the House
Committee on Higher Education met in a public hearing and was
called to order by the Chair, Representative Irma Rangel at
7:18 pm.
The roll was answered as follows:

Absent: Representatives Rabuck; Reyna, Elvira (2).

SB 572
The chair laid out SB 572 and recognized Representative Hupp
to explain the measure.
Representative Solis offered an amendment to the measure.
The amendment was adopted without objection.
Representative Solis offered a second amendment to the
measure.
The amendment was adopted without objection.
The chair recognized Representative Place to further explain
the measure.

The chair recognized Representative Place to close on the
measure.
The chair recognized Representative Hupp also to close on the
measure.
Representative Kamel moved that SB 572, as amended, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the
