         Pursuant to a notice posted on May 1, 1998 and revised on May  
         22, 1998,  the House Committee on Higher Education,  
         Subcommittee on Agency Oversight and Financial Aid met in a  
         public hearing and was called to order by the Chair,  
         Representative Henry Cuellar at 9:08 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representative Cuellar (1). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives; Solis; Dunnam; (2). 
          
         (Representative Solis now present.) 
          
         The subcommittee took testimony on the following charge: (see  
         attached witness list) 
          
              Conduct active oversight of agencies under the  
              committee's jurisdiction, including a  review of the  
              State Auditor's finding of material weakness in higher  
              education administration of student financial aid  
              programs. 
          
         At 11:58 am, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
