         Pursuant to a notice posted on October 2, 1998, the House  
         Committee on Higher Education, Subcommittee on Agency  
         Oversight & Financial Aid Program met in a public hearing and  
         was called to order by the Acting Chair, Representative Henry  
         Cuellar at 2:19 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Solis; Cuellar; Dunnam (3). 
          
         Absent:   (0). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The subcommittee on Agency Oversight and Financial Aid  
         Programs met to adopt the interim subcommittee report on the  
         following interim charge: 
          
              Conduct active oversight of agencies under the  
         committee's jurisdiction, including a review of the State  
         Auditor's finding of material weakness in higher education  
         administration of student financial aid programs. 
          
         The subcommittee report was adopted. 
          
         At 2:40 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
