         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 10, 1997, the House 
         Committee on Insurance met in a formal meeting and was called to 
         order by the Chair, Representative John Smithee at 1:52 pm.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Smithee; Van de Putte; Burnam; Olivo; 
                   Wise (5).
         
         Absent:   Representatives Averitt; Bonnen; Eiland; Lewis, Glenn 
                   (4).
         
         A quorum was present.
         
         (Representative Bonnen now present.)  
         
         Members received briefing on insurance issues.
         
         There being no further business before the committee, the 
         committee was adjourned by the Chair at 3:25pm.
