Pursuant to a notice posted on February 12, 1997, the House
Committee on Insurance met in a public hearing and was called to
order by the Chair, Representative John Smithee at 11:20 am.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Smithee; Averitt; Bonnen; Burnam;
Olivo; Wise (6).
Absent: Representatives Van de Putte; Eiland; Lewis, Glenn
(3).
A quorum was present.
(Representative Van de Putte now present.)
Representative Averitt motioned that the chair adopt the House
rules as rules of the committee. Representative Wise seconded
the motion. Without objection, the committee adopted the rules.

The chair laid out HB 262.
The chair recognized Representative Van de Putte to explain the
measure. Representative Wise offered a complete committee
substitute. Testimony was taken.

The meeting was recessed by the chair at 12:00 p.m.
The committee reconvened at 1:39 pm and was called to order by
the chair, Representative Smithee. The roll was answered as
follows:
