         Pursuant to a notice posted on August 24, 1998, the House  
         Committee on Insurance met in a public hearing and was called  
         to order by the Chair, Representative John Smithee at 1:30 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Smithee; Van de Putte; Averitt;  
                   Bonnen; Burnam; Lewis, Glenn; Olivo; Wise (8). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Eiland (1). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 3:35 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
