         Pursuant to a notice posted on April 4, 1997, the House  
         Committee on Judicial Affairs, Subcommittee on Courts met in a  
         formal meeting and was called to order by the Chair,  
         Representative Senfronia Thompson at 12:36 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Thompson; Solis (2). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Shields (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         HB 1682 by Thompson 
          
         The chair laid out HB 1682 and explained. 
          
         The chair offered, laid out a complete committee substitute to  
         HB 1682 and explained. 
          
         The chair moved to withdraw the substitute and leave HB 1682  
         pending.  There were no objections.  
           
         The chair moved that the subcommittee stand adjourned.  There  
         being no objection, the Subcommittee on Courts adjourned at  
         12:43 pm.
