         Pursuant to a notice posted on May 14, 1997, the House  
         Committee on Pensions & Investments met in a public hearing  
         and was called to order by the Chair, Representative Barry  
         Telford at 8:45 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Telford; Berlanga; Goolsby; Rangel;  
                   Williams (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Woolley; Sadler; Serna; Tillery (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         SB 1923 
          
         The chair laid out SB 1923.   
          
         The chair recognized Rep. Uher to explain the measure.   
          
         Representative Telford offered a complete committee  
         substitute.   
          
         Representative Telford offered amendments to the committee  
         substitute. 
          
         At 9:53 am, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until final recess of the House.

         Pursuant to the final recess of the House, the committee  
         reconvened at 9:00 pm and was called to order by  
         Representative Woolley.  The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Woolley; Tillery (2). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Telford; Berlanga; Goolsby; Rangel;  
                   Sadler; Serna; Williams (7). 
          
         A quorum was not present. 
          
         At 9:06 am, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
