         Pursuant to a notice posted on May 25, 1998, the House  
         Committee on Public Education, Subcommittee on Charter Schools  
         & Public Education Grants met in a public hearing and was  
         called to order by the Chair, Representative Alec Rhodes at  
         1:00 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:

         Absent:   Representatives Culberson; Uher (2). 
          
         A quorum was not present.

         At 3:30 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,
