Pursuant to a notice posted on February 20, 1997, and revised
on February 21, 1997, the House Committee on Public Health met
in a public hearing and was called to order by the Chair,
Representative Hugo Berlanga, at 11:54 am.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Berlanga; Hirschi; Glaze; Janek;
Maxey (5).
Absent: Representatives Coleman; Davila; Delisi; Rodriguez
(4).
A quorum was present.
HB 212 and HB 213
For purposes of testimony, the committee considered the
following related bills together: HB 212 and HB 213. The
chair recognized Representative Chisum to explain the
measures.
Representative Janek offered a complete committee substitute
for HB 212. Representative Janek offered a complete committee
substitute for HB 213.
Testimony was taken. (See attached witness list.)
Representative Hirschi moved that the substitute for HB 212 be
adopted. The committee substitute for HB 212 was adopted
without objection.
Representative Hirschi moved that the substitute for HB 213 be
adopted. The committee substitute for HB 213 was adopted
without objection.
The chair recognized Representative Chisum to close on the
measures.
Representative Janek moved that HB 212 as substituted, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on
Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the
following vote:
Ayes: Representatives Berlanga; Hirschi; Davila; Janek;
Maxey (5).
Nays: None (0).
Present not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representatives Coleman; Delisi; Glaze; Rodriguez
(4).
Representative Janek moved that HB 213 as substituted, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on
Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the
following vote:

Maxey (5).
Nays: None (0).

At 12:34 pm, on the motion of Representative Janek and without
objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of
the chair.
