         Pursuant to a notice posted on May 21, 1997 and a suspension  
         to the five-day posting rule, the House Committee on Public  
         Health met in a public hearing and was called to order by the  
         Chair, Representative Hugo Berlanga, at 8:23 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Berlanga; Hirschi; Delisi; Glaze;  
                   Janek; Maxey (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Coleman; Davila (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         HCR 279 
          
         The chair laid out HCR 279.   
          
         The chair recognized Representative McClendon to explain the  
         measure.   
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         The chair recognized Representative McClendon to close on the  
         measure.   
          
         Representative Janek moved that HCR 279 be reported favorably  
         to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and  
         be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent  
         Calendars.  The motion prevailed by the following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Berlanga; Hirschi; Delisi;  
                        Glaze; Janek (5). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representatives Coleman; Davila; Maxey (3).

         The chair laid out SB 662.   
         The chair recognized Representative Glaze to explain the  
         measure.   
          
         Representative Glaze offered an amendment to the measure.   
  
         The amendment was adopted without objection.   
          
         Representative Janek offered an amendment to the measure.  
          
         The amendment was adopted without objection.

         The bill was left pending without objection.
