         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 14, 1997, the House 
         Committee on State Recreational Resources met in a public 
         hearing and was called to order by the Chair, Representative 
         Edmund Kuempel at 8:09 am.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Kuempel; McCall; Horn; King; 
                   Merritt; Palmer (6).
         
         Absent:   Representatives Hightower; Hilderbran; Longoria (3).
         
         A quorum was present.
         
         HB 1941
         
         The chair laid out HB 1941.  
         
         The chair recognized Representative Place to explain the 
         measure.  
         
         (Representatives Hilderbran and Longoria now present.)  
         
         Representative King offered a complete committee substitute.  
         
         Testimony was taken.  
         
         The chair recognized Representative Place to close on the 
         measure.  
         
         The committee substitute was withdrawn without objection.
         
         The chair referred the bill to the Subcommittee on HB 1452 and 
         HB 1941.  The chair named the following members to the 
         Subcommittee on HB 1452 and HB 1941:  Representative King, 
         Chair, Representatives Longoria and Merritt.

         The chair laid out HB 1955.  
         
         The chair recognized Representative Hilbert to explain the 
         measure.  
         
         Representative Horn offered an amendment to the measure.  
         
 
         





         Testimony was taken.  
         
         The chair recognized Representative Hilbert to close on the 
         measure.  
         
         The amendment was adopted without objection.  
         
         Representative Hilderbran moved that HB 1955, as amended, be 
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation 
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the 
         following vote:  
         
         Ayes:          Representatives Kuempel; McCall; Hilderbran; 
                        Horn; King; Longoria; Merritt; Palmer (8).
         
         Nays:          None (0).
         
         Present not Voting:      None (0).
         
         Absent:        Representative Hightower (1).

         The chair laid out HB 2171.  
         
         The chair recognized Representative Horn to explain the 
         measure.  
         
         Testimony was taken.
