         Pursuant to a notice posted on April 10, 1997, the House  
         Committee on State Recreational Resources met in a public  
         hearing and was called to order by the Chair, Representative  
         Edmund Kuempel at 8:36 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Kuempel; Horn; King; Merritt; Palmer  
                   (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives McCall; Hightower; Hilderbran;  
                   Longoria (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         HB 1523 
          
         The chair laid out HB 1523 as pending business.   
          
         Representative Merritt offered a complete committee  
         substitute.   
          
         The chair recognized Representative Merritt to explain the  
         measure.   
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
          
         Representative King moved that HB 1523, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Kuempel; Horn; King; Merritt;  
                        Palmer (5). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representatives McCall; Hightower; Hilderbran;  
                        Longoria (4). 
          
         HB 966 
          
         The chair recalled HB 966 from subcommittee.   
          
         Representative Kuempel offered a complete committee  
         substitute.   
          
         Testimony was taken.   
          
         The bill was left pending without objection.  
          
         At 9:42 am, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
