Pursuant to a notice posted on April 17, 1997, the House
Committee on State Recreational Resources met in a public
hearing and was called to order by the Chair, Representative
Edmund Kuempel at 8:38 am.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Kuempel; McCall; King; Longoria;
Merritt (5).
Absent: Representatives Hightower; Hilderbran; Horn; Palmer
(4).
A quorum was present.
SB 710
The chair laid out SB 710 in lieu of HB 1661.
The chair recognized Representative Yarbrough to explain the
measure.
(Representative Horn now present.)
Testimony was taken.
The chair recognized Representative Yarbrough to close on the
measure.
The chair referred the bill to a subcommittee to be named
later by the chair.
HB 150
The chair laid out HB 150.
Testimony was taken.
(Representatives Hilderbran and Palmer now present.)
Testimony was taken.
(Representative McCall in chair.)
Testimony was taken.
(Representative Kuempel in chair.)
Representative Kuempel moved that HB 150 be reported favorably
to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and
be printed. The motion failed by the following vote and the
bill was left pending:
Ayes: None (0).
Nays: Representatives Kuempel; McCall; Hilderbran;
Horn; King; Longoria; Merritt; Palmer (8).
Present not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representative Hightower (1).
HB 1941
The chair recalled HB 1941 from subcommittee.
Representative King offered a complete committee substitute.
Representative Kuempel offered an amendment to the committee
substitute.
The amendment was adopted without objection.
The committee substitute, as amended, was adopted without
objection.
The chair directed the staff to incorporate the amendments
into the committee substitute.
Representative King moved that HB 1941, as substituted, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on
Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the
following vote:
Ayes: Representatives Kuempel; McCall; Hilderbran;
Horn; King; Merritt; Palmer (7).
Nays: None (0).
Present not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representatives Hightower; Longoria (2).
At 9:30 am, on the motion of the chair and without objection,
the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
