         Pursuant to a notice posted on January 12, 1998, the House  
         Committee on State Recreational Resources, Subcommittee on  
         State Park System Review met jointly in a public hearing with  
         the Committee on Appropriations and was called to order by the  
         Chairman Edmund Kuempel at  9:34 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Kuempel; Horn; King; Longoria;  
                   McCall; Merritt;, Finnell; Swinford (8). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Davis; Eiland; Raymond (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken on the background and status of the Park,  
         Recreation and Natural Resources Study.   
          
         (Representative Eiland now present.)   
          
         Testimony continued.   
          
         (Representative McCall in chair.)   
          
         Testimony was taken on the Texas Parks and Wildlife  
         Department's budget.   
          
         (Representative Davis now present.)   
          
         Testimony continued.   
          
         At 11:21 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
