         Pursuant to a suspension of the 5-day posting rule on February 
         11, 1997, the House Committee on Revenue & Public Education 
         Funding, Select met in a public hearing and was called to order 
         by the Chair, Representative Paul Sadler at 2:10 pm.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Sadler; Brimer; Chisum; Craddick; 
                   Hernandez; Williamson (6).
         
         Absent:   Representatives Hilbert; Hochberg; Junell; Stiles; 
                   Wilson (5).
         
         A quorum was present.

         The chair laid out HB 4 and HJR 4.  
         
         The chair recognized Representative Craddick to explain the 
         measure.

         At 5:10 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,
