MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON ADMINISTRATION Tuesday, May 6, 1997 7:30 am Admin. Comte. Office E1.714 ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Tuesday, May 6, 1997 in Admin. Comte. Office E1.714, at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS PRESENT AFTER ROLL CALL: Senator Chris Harris Senator J.E. Brown Senator Carlos Truan Senator Bill Ratliff Senator Kenneth Armbrister Senator Mike Moncrief Senator David Sibley ***** The Chair called the meeting to order at 7:30 am. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted. Senator Harris recognized Senator Truan who moved to approve all minutes from the previous meetings. Without objection it was so ordered. The Chair laid out SCR 81 and recognized the author, Senator Mario Gallegos, Jr., to explain the bill. Senator Sibley moved that SCR 81 be reported favorably to the full Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 2 absent. Senator Moncrief moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar, without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Harris asked if there were any questions or discussion on any of the bills listed for certification on the Local and Uncontested Calendar. There was discussion. Senator Moncrief moved to certify all the bills on the list with the exception of HB 515, HB 749 pulled by author, HB 758, HB 2692, HB 3490 pulled by author, HB 3504 left pending, SB 12 engrossed 5/5/97, SB 1066 engrossed 5/5/97 and SB 1827 engrossed 5/5/97. Motion passed 7 ayes, 0 nays. Senator Harris asked the committee for a consensus of what time they would like to continue meeting with the possibility of the Senate going into session at 8:00 or 8:30 am. The consensus was to start the meeting at 7:00 am and then upon recess if needed. There being no further business, Senator Harris moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair.
