MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON ADMINISTRATION Thursday, May 22, 1997 11:45 am Capitol Building, Room 2E.20 ***** Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Thursday, May 22, 1997 in the Capitol Building, Room 2E.20, at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS PRESENT AFTER Senator Chris Harris ROLL CALL: Senator Carlos Truan Senator J.E. Brown Senator Mike Moncrief Senator Bill Ratliff Senator David Sibley MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Kenneth Armbrister ***** The Chair called the meeting to order at 11:50 pm. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted. The Chair stated that with the large number of bills on the list recommended for the Local and Uncontested Calendar that the need for this meeting was evident. His intention was to take up the first list of approximately 175 bills. The bills not certified for the local calendar would then still have a chance to go on the intent for tomorrow. Senator Harris asked if there were any question or discussion on any of the bills listed for certification on the Local and Uncontested Calendar. There was discussion and many questions. Senators Harris, Truan, Brown, Moncrief, and Sibley moved to certify all the bills on the list with the exception of HB 115, HB 623, HB 727, HB 793, HB 803, HB 846, HB 998, HB 1294, HB 1528 pulled by author, HB 1693, HB 1755 passed 5/21/97, HB 1811, HB 1812, HB 1898, HB 1961 passed 5/22/97, HB 2146 passed 5/21/97, HB 2318, HB 2481, HB 2488, HB 2825 passed 5/22/97, HB 2830, HB 2845, HB 2900, HB 3065, HB 3189, HB 3306, HB 3567, HB 3572 and HB 3587. The motion carried with a vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays and 2 absent. There being no further business, at 1:45 pm Senator Harris moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair.
