There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted. The following members arrived after the Committee was called to order: Senators Cain, Madla, Moncrief, Ogden, and Whitmire. The Chair announced that at the request of Senator Whitmire, no action would be taken on SB 699. The Chair laid out SB 346 and recognized the author, Senator Barrientos, to explain the bill. Senator Barrientos explained the measure. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. Senator Moncrief moved that SB 346 be reported favorably to the full Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a vote of 11 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. The Chair laid out SB 182 and recognized the author, Senator Shapiro, to explain the bill. Senator Shapiro explained the measure. Senator Shapiro sent up a committee substitute; the Chair recognized Senator Shapiro to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the bill filed. Senator Shapiro moved that SB 182 do not pass but that CSSB 182 be adopted in lieu of the original bill. There being no objection, it was so moved.
