MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON FINANCE Interim Subcommittee on Articles I, VI and VII Agencies Wednesday, February 25, 1998 9:30 a.m. Capitol Extension, Room E1.036 ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.11, a public hearing of the Interim Senate Finance Subcommittee on Articles I, VI and VII Agencies was held on Wednesday, February 25, 1998 in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.036, at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Gonzalo Barrientos, Chairman Senator Kenneth Armbrister Senator Teel Bivins ***** After standing in recess on February 24, 1998, Chairman Barrientos called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. to transact the following business: The following members arrived after the roll was called: none. The Chair called on representatives from Articles I and VI agencies to provide testimony and answer questions of the committee regarding interim charges. (All agencies submitted written comments prior to the hearing date.) Witnesses appeared as follows: Mike Regan, representing the Railroad Commission, provided oral and written testimony. David Schieck, representing the Railroad Commission, provided oral testimony. Jerry Martin, representing the Railroad Commission, provided oral testimony, Jose Mayorga, representing the Railroad Commission, provided oral testimony. Dan Kelley, representing the Railroad Commission, provided oral testimony. Marva Scallion, representing the Legislative Budget Board, answered questions regarding the Railroad Commission. Paul Robertson, representing the Soil and Water Conservation Board, provided oral testimony. Robert Buckley, representing the Soil and Water Conservation Board, provided oral testimony. Craig Pederson, representing the Water Development Board, provided oral testimony. Morris Sanderfer, representing the Firefighters' Pension Commissioner, provided oral testimony. Stephanie Coats, representing the Legislative Budget Board, answered questions regarding the Firefighters' Pension Commissioner. Douglas Brown, representing the Veterans Commission, provided oral testimony. Charles Buerschinger, representing the Veterans Commission, provided oral testimony. Barney Gilmore, representing the State Auditor's Office, answered questions regarding the Veterans Commission. There being no further business, at 12:00 p.m. Chairman Barrientos announced that the Committee would stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair.
