         Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.11, a public hearing  
         of the Senate Committee on Jurisprudence was held on Tuesday,  
         May 6, 1997 in the Senate Chamber at Austin, Texas.

         Senator Duncan, the Acting Chair, called the meeting to order  
         at 1:22 pm.  The following business was transacted.   
          
         The following members arrived after the roll was called: none.  
          
         The Chair laid out SB 1754 and explained the bill.  Senator  
         Harris moved that SB 1754 be reported favorably to the full  
         Committee with the recommendation that it do pass and be  
         printed.  The motion carried with a vote of 2 ayes, 0 nays, 0  
         present not voting, and 1 absent.   
          
         There being no further business, at 1:24 pm Senator Duncan  
         moved that the Committee be adjourned. Without objection, it  
         was so ordered.
