MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON NOMINATIONS Monday, January 27, 1997 2:00 pm Capitol Extension, Room E1.016 ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.11, a meeting of the Senate Committee on Nominations was held on Monday, January 27, 1997 in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Frank Madla none Senator Florence Shapiro Senator Gonzalo Barrientos Senator J.E. Brown Senator Mario Gallegos, Jr. Senator Tom Haywood Senator Drew Nixon ***** The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:05 pm. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted. The Chairman laid out the names of the nominees for the Finance Commission. Senator Brown introduced nominee, Manuel Mehos. Senator Harris introduced nominee, Victor Puente, Jr. Senator Cain introduced nominee, Wilburn Hilton, Jr. Senator Wentworth introduced nominee, Marlene Martin. Senator Madla announced that votes would be taken following all testimony. The Chairman laid out the names of the nominees for the Public Utility Commission. Senator Wentworth introduced nominees, Judy Walsh and Pat Wood, III. Senator Barrientos moved to consider and report to the Senate with the recommendation that the nominees of the Finance Commission be confirmed. The motion carried with a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senator Shapiro moved to consider and report to the Senate with the recommendation that the nominees of the Public Utility Commission be confirmed. The motion carried with a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senator Brown moved to consider and report to the Senate with the recommendation that the nominees of the Texas Animal Health Commission, Children's Trust Fund of Texas Council, State Board of Examiners of Dietitians, Fire Fighters' Relief and Retirement Fund Board of Trustees, and the State Library and Archives be confirmed. The motion carried with a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.
