Brown Senator Mario Gallegos, Jr. Senator Tom Haywood Senator Drew Nixon ***** The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:10 pm. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted. The Chairman laid out the names of the nominees for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Senator Brown introduced nominee, Jodie L. Jiles. Senator Lucio introduced nominee, Robert W. Shepard. Senator Ellis introduced nominee, Leonard Rauch. Senator Ogden introduced nominee, William C. Atkinson. Senator Lindsay introduced nominee, Martin Basaldua, M.D. Senator Nelson introduced nominees, Dolores Carruth and Robert I. Fernandez. Senator Duncan introduced nominee, Steve Late. Senator Truan introduced nominee, Pamela P. Willeford. The Chairman laid out the name of the nominee for the Texas State Board of Education. Senator Lindsay introduced nominee, Jack R. Christie. The Chairman laid out the names of the nominees for the Texas A&M Board of Regents. Senators Truan and Shapiro introduced nominee, Anne L. Armstrong. Senators Lindsay and Gallegos introduced nominee, Dionel E. Aviles. Senators Shapiro and West introduced nominee, Erle A. Nye. At 4:07 pm, Senator Gallegos moved to consider and report to the Senate with the recommendation that the nominee of the State Board of Education be confirmed. Senator Shapiro seconded the motion. The Chairman asked the Committee Members for unanimous consent to show Senators Barrientos, Brown and Nixon as voting aye. There being no objection, Senators Barrientos, Brown and Nixon were shown voting aye. The motion carried with a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. At 4:08 pm, Senator Gallegos moved to consider and report to the Senate with the recommendation that the nominees of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board be confirmed. Senator Shapiro seconded the motion. The Chairman asked the Committee Members for unanimous consent to show Senators Barrientos, Brown and Nixon as voting aye. At 4:10 pm, Senator Gallegos moved to consider and report to the Senate with the recommendation that the nominees to the Texas A & M Board of Regents be confirmed. Senator Haywood seconded the motion. The Chairman asked the Committee Members for unanimous consent to show Senators Barrientos, Brown and Nixon as voting aye. There being no objection, Senators Barrientos, Brown and Nixon were shown voting aye. The motion carried with a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. At 4:11 pm, Senator Gallegos moved to consider and report to the Senate with the recommendation that the nominees to the University of North Texas Board of Regents, State Board for Educator Certification, College Opportunity Act Committee, Prepaid Higher Education Tuition Board, Prepaid Tuition Scholarship Foundation Board, Stephen F. Austin University Board of Regents, Texas State Technical College Board of Regents, and Rio Grande Compact Commissioner be confirmed. Senator Shapiro seconded the motion. The Chairman asked the Committee Members for unanimous consent to show Senators Barrientos, Brown and Nixon as voting aye. There being no objection, Senators Barrientos, Brown and Nixon were shown voting aye. The motion carried with a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. There being no further business, at 4:13 pm Senator Madla moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair.
