         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Nominations  
         was held on Tuesday, April 1, 1997 in the Capitol Extension,  
         Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas.

         The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:05 pm.  The  
         following business was transacted.   
          
         There not being a quorum present, the Chair announced all  
         nominees on today's agenda would be placed on the agenda for  
         April 7, 1997.  
          
         The Chair waived all nominees appearances for the Texas  
         Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Board and the Texas  
         Turnpike Authority Board of Directors for April 7, 1997. 
          
         The Chair did not waive the appearance of the nominee for the  
         Executive Director of the Texas Department of Commerce for  
         April 7, 1997. 
          
         There being no further business, at 2:10 pm the Chair moved  
         that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the  
         Chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
