Rm. ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Nominations was held on Monday, April 21, 1997 in Lt. Gov. Comte. Rm., at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Frank Madla Senator Florence Shapiro Senator Gonzalo Barrientos Senator J.E. Brown Senator Mario Gallegos, Jr. Senator Tom Haywood Senator Drew Nixon ***** The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:05 pm. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted. The Chair laid out the names of the nominees for the Texas Board of Nursing Facility Administrators. Senator Nelson introduced nominee, Ramona Kennedy. Senator Armbrister introduced nominee, Audrey G. Williamson. The Chair introduced nominees, Jack R. Tinsley and Jerry Turner. The Chair laid out the names of the nominees for the Lower Colorado River Authority. Senator Armbrister introduced nominees, Gale M. Lincke, Steve D. Rivers and Arthur J. Milberger.. Senator Fraser introduced nominees, Pamela R. Akins, Patricia J. Kirk, and John J. Weidner. Senator Barrientos introduced nominees, Gay W. Gaddis and E. Peter Pincoffs. The Chair introduced nominees, Hilda C. Kroll and Frederick L. Henneke. At 3:08 pm, Senator Barrientos moved to consider and report to the Senate with the recommendation that the nominees for the Lower Colorado River Authority be confirmed. Senator Nixon seconded the motion. The Chair asked the Committee Members for unanimous consent to show Senator Gallegos as voting aye. There being no objection, Senator Gallegos was shown voting aye. The motion carried with a vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent. At 3:10 pm, Senator Haywood moved to consider and report to the Senate with the recommendation that the nominee for the Texas Board of Nursing Facility Administrators be confirmed. Senator Nixon seconded the motion. The Chair asked the Committee Members for unanimous consent to show Senator Gallegos as voting aye. There being no objection, Senator Gallegos was shown voting aye. The motion carried with a vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent. At 3:11 pm, Senator Haywood moved to consider and report to the Senate with the recommendation that the nominee for the Brazos River Authority Board of Directors, Central Colorado River Authority Board of Directors, Upper Colorado River Authority Board of Directors, Upper Guadalupe River Authority Board of Directors, Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority Board of Directors, Lavaca-Navidad River Authority Board of Directors, Nueces River Authority Board of Directors, Sabine River Authority Board of Directors and Texas Sabine River Compact Commission be confirmed. Senator Nixon seconded the motion. The motion carried with a vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 2 absent. There being no further business, at 3:12 pm Senator Madla moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair.
