Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Natural
Resources was held on Tuesday, February 25, 1997 in the Capitol
Extension, Room E1.028, at Austin, Texas.

The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:15 pm. There being
a quorum present, the following business was transacted.
At 2:22 pm Senator Truan assumed the chair.
The Chair laid out SB 633 and recognized the author, Senator
Brown, to explain the bill.
At 2:39 pm Senator Barrientos assumed the chair.
Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on
the attached list.
Senator Brown sent up Committee Amendment 1 and moved adoption;
without objection, the amendment was adopted.
Senator Brown moved that SB 633, as amended, be reported back to
the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be
printed. The motion carried with a vote of 7 ayes, 2 nays, 0
present not voting, and 2 absent.
The Chair laid out SB 634 and recognized the author, Senator
Brown, to explain the bill.
Senator Brown sent up a committee substitute, explained the
differences, and moved its adoption; there being no objection it
was so ordered.
Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on
the attached list.
Senator Brown moved that CSSB 634 be reported back to the Senate
with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The
motion carried with a vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not
voting, and 3 absent.

for Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so
ordered.

Senator Barrientos sent up Committee Amendment 1 and moved
adoption; without objection, the amendment was adopted.
Senator Wentworth moved that SB 326, as amended, be reported
back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and
be printed. The motion carried with a vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays,
0 present not voting, and 5 absent.
Senator Wentworth requested unanimous consent to certify the
bill for Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was
so ordered.
There being no further business, at 4:00 pm Senator Barrientos
moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of
the Chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
