         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 
         11.11, a meeting of the Senate
         Committee on Natural Resources, Subcommittee on Agriculture 
         was held on Tuesday, January 28, 1997 in the Capitol 
         Extension, Room E1.028, at Austin, Texas.

         Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr.

         The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:35 pm.  There being 
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted.  
         
         The Chair offered opening remarks and introduced the 
         Subcommittee staff.
         
         The Chair laid out the Subcommittee rules and opened the floor 
         for discussion.
         
         Senator Bivins moved that clarifying changes be made to the 
         section entitled "Minority Report."
         The motion carried.
         
         Senator Bivins moved for adoption of the rules.  The motion 
         carried.
         
         There being no further business, at 2:40 pm Senator Lucio 
         moved that the Subcommittee stand recessed subject to the call 
         of the Chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
